HARRISBURG—Attorney General Josh Shapiro today accepted the accreditation of the Office of Attorney General (OAG) and its Commonwealth Investigator Training Program by the Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association. The OAG’s accreditation was lost under a previous administration, and recently regained under AG Shapiro’s leadership. The office collaborated with other state agencies to develop professional, standardized training for all investigators statewide. This training is available to both criminal and civil investigators.

HARRISBURG —Attorney General Josh Shapiro today announced criminal charges against 30 individuals and 21 businesses for “title washing” and for re-titling stolen vehicles in Lebanon, Lehigh, and Philadelphia counties. The title washing fraud was designed to bypass rigid requirements for reconstructed titles in states such as New Jersey and New York. The re-titling of these stolen vehicles was intended to make those vehicles look legitimate for resale or export.
PENNSYLVANIA—Acting Attorney General Michelle Henry today announced that Luzerne County has joined the Law Enforcement Treatment Initiative (LETI), a program launched by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General in collaboration with law enforcement that provides assistance to Pennsylvanians suffering from substance use disorder in enrolling in treatment services. Nineteen counties across the Commonwealth have previously joined the LETI program.

HARRISBURG — Attorney General Josh Shapiro and Pocono Raceway President Ben May are today announcing that attendees of the Pocono 400 safely disposed of 78 pounds of prescription drugs in just two days. This single take back event received 30 percent more pills and prescriptions than the totals from the Attorney General’s two events last year at Pocono. This effort was part of the Office of Attorney General’s Drug Take Back Program which encourages the public to remove unused or outdated prescription drugs from their homes in an effort to reduce the risk of drug abuse and addiction. The Office also distributed 1,200 drug deactivation pouches.
